A multi-millionaire in his forties is approached by an employee who wants an
advance on his pay. The request is denied as the purchase of a motorcycle
was
not deemed as not a good reason for a loan. After all, motorbikes are
dangerous.
The employee was successful in getting the bike anyway and after riding it
to work
one day, offered his boss who turned down his request for a loan, a ride.
The ride
was taken and turned out to be a genuine thrill to the boss. He immediately
went
out and bought a bike of his own.
He went on to buy many bikes for his family and friends and added
motorcycling to the top of his list of favorite past times along with hot
air ballooning. Over time, he rode all over the world with his club the
Capitalist Tools--including places like the Soviet Union (displaying
"Capitalist Tools" colors on the back of their red vests),
Red China, Pakistan, Egypt and Norway to name a few. All the while, flying
hot air balloons too.
He rode and flew with a vengeance for the rest of his long life, seeming to
be making up for lost time. Malcolm Forbes was indeed an ambassador for
motorcycling and freedom throughout the world...
"People think you're eccentric if you ride a motorcycle. Unless you're
poor. If
you're poor, they think you're nuts." Malcolm S. Forbes
"Anything you haven't done is an adventure. Wanting to is the principal
requirement. If you can do and want to, don't not." Malcolm S. Forbes
