balancer adjust??????????????

Post by wileyE_@excite.com » Tue Jul 11, 2000 10:45 pm

That's it, loosen it a full turn or two, it releases a spring loaded arm that has an idler gear for the chain, the spring does the tensioning then the adjuster bolt holds it so it can't go any looser. Do not over tighten the bolt, not sure of the torque spec, just keep the word "snug" in your mind, forget "tight", I use a metric nutdriver if that means anything. Some say it is best to do this adj. when the oil is hot as the mechanism may move more freely? I just do it when I change my oil. One friend of mine has a procedure that has him rotating and the engine with the rear wheel and holding it while tightening the bolt to try to get the most slack out, I'm not convinced and don't sweat such details. cheers In DSN_klr650@egroups.com, steve6018@c... wrote:
