Rare problem so it's not normal, but it sounds like a valid solution. Chain tension shouldn't cause that, but can cause other more serious problems. I'd say a defect or foreign object thrown up onto chain? Rex A7> # 4 what would cause the sprocket chipping and chain breaking? > loose chain, tight chain?
