Has anyone seen Mission Impossible 2 yet? I saw it this weekend and was pretty disappointed. That aside, the motorcycle chase scene was the worst! Here's Tom Cruise riding this sweet Triumph and along comes this huge lumbering SUV that is able to not only catch up to him, but able to ram the back of his bike!! WHY in the world would anyone think he could not have accelerated away easily!!??!! The other goof is when they are riding in the dirt. It is extremely obvious that they switched to dirt knobbies while they were in the dirt. They tried really hard to not show it, but there's just a huge difference in the two types of tires used and they did a horrible job editing this out.
They should have used some radically modified (just for effect of course) version of the KLR instead of the Triumph if they wanted to have them playing in the dirt! Granted Cruise could not have done the front wheel braking slide rear wheel stand twist and shoot the bad guy scene as easily on the KLR.
Just had to throw this out there since this list is comprised of Motorcycle buffs who would have found some of this a bit ridiculous.

nklr mi-2 motorcycle chase sceen
Folks,
If you want to see a really good motorcycle chase seen using dual
sport bikes specifically the new Triumph Tiger and the BMW either 1100 or
1500 GS check out the movie Romeo Must Die starring Jet Li. This one is alot
better cause it is very real and the stunts seem like they can be done in
real life with no wires camera tricks etc. Plus a bonus when one of the
riders is revealed. Check it out. I don't know if it's on video yet.

With only 1900 miles I don't think its worth worrying about, just so long as you keep an eye on the oil level. You need to really get scientific about determining the exact rate of oil consumption, if any. It could also be that the motor was never broken in properly. In any case, as long as it runs well and has all the power it is supposed to have, then there it is. My A3 is starting to devour oil faster than I can chug beer. (Well, not really, but its good imagery isn't it?). Anyway, I'm burning like 500 cc's every 100 - 200 miles, depending on how many highway miles I do. I am definitely looking at doing a top end rebuild, and very soon (Just as soon as I can get Fred away from all those visitors he's got now). But then, I have near 30,000 miles on my engine. So take heart, maybe you have to give the baby a bottle now and then. So long as you are aware of it and plan for it, and it runs well, don't cry about it. Jeff> Hi all! I just bought a 99 Klr 650 w/1900 mi. for $3500. My brother > who checked it out has a 98 and is familar with the KLR's. At the > time he looked at it everything looked ok. No test ride,(liability > they say)) it was at a dealer but he fired it up and listened to it > everything seemed ok. dealer was not a kaw dealer. When i start bike > after it has sat overnight it blows light blue smoke for a minute or > so then clears off. ...mmmmm that don't look good..... stop a local > Kaw dealer get mechanic explain ask whats up. dude says you never > know till you open'er up but he felt that it probably has a bad valve > seal ...or was it seat??? anyway evidently there is a platic seat/ > seal whatever and if over heated it gets brittle and will let a > little oil seep into the cylinder hence smoke. he said run it keep an > eye on the oil level it could do that forever and not get worse or > worsen and then you fix it. he said worst case senerio was a top end > rebuild "good winter job". 6 to 8 hours at $55 hr ouch! > This was an older guy in his forties who seemed geniune no > attitude My quetion is does the above sound right. Anybody have any > ideas as to what else it might be? Have no service records or bike > history. found orignal dealer sticker called they said they wouldn't > have any records other than if they did recall work. Am I the proud > owner of a 99 klr with crappy valves???? Waaaaahh!!! Thoughts Please! > >
