klr ticking ?

Hello Listers, I've noticed during my last couple of rides that my A14 is making a fairly quiet, rapid ticking noise from somewhere beneath the gas tank. The ticking becomes more rapid with more rpms. When idling I don't think it ticks much, if any. It is most audible as the rpms increase, until the sound of the engine drowns-out the ticking. Anyone have any idea what is causing this? Could it have something to do with my valve adjustment? balancer chain adjustment? Cam chain tensioner? (I really have no clue.)
