Hi all, I just joined your list. I'm interested in buying a KLR 650 sometime soon, probably used. I thought I'd listen in here and see what info I could pick up about the beast. about me, I'm 34, with wife/3 kids. I've owned several street bikes over the years, and I currently own a 1979 Yamaha XS 1100 Special and am a member of the XSOA and mail list. I haven't had a trail/enduro bike since I was a kid, but I loved trail riding, and would like to do it again. Also I may commute on the bike some. I'll probably just lurk about here, not saying much - until I have some specific questions. -like what oil do you reccommend? -what tires should I use? (kidding, these are always good for 3 day threads on the xs-list) anyway, just wanted to say hi. -- --------------------------- Danny Lewis danlewis@... ---------------------------

more bears and tires nklr

I ditched work yesterday at 2:00 pm to go for a ride. I headed out on a Forest Service road to see what I could see. About 160 km (100 miles) from the nearest other human I encountered a sow with two very new cubs (black). We had a pleasant exchange of glances and each went our own way. As I cruised home I thought how awful it would be to blow a tire. I know some listers pack all the tools required for a patch and re-inflate. That is ok for long runs, but what about a simple afternoon excursion into the hinterland? Has anyone used those aerosol re-inflation devices? Do they work in an emergency just to get you to civilization or are they unsuitable for 'tubed tires'? Rob
