Tha't easy. Vulcanized rubber costs money. The less they use in their product, the cheaper they can produce it. And less rubber means a tighter fit.

Sorry I'm days behind in reading mail, buuuttt...I've worn one since last fall, and now think of it as a very good 3 season jacket. I'm not sure about summer yet, as recent 90-degree days have been rather unpleasant below 30 mph (hot sun+black plastic=sauna). If you ride at low speed often and don't want to arrive drenched by sweat or the wet T-shirt trick I'd suggest looking elsewhere, or maybe add more vents. No personal experience of the armor's effectiveness, and working to keep it that way. Jim in LA
