Bought a set of MT-21's a few weeks back and I've decided they are the best dirt tire I've tried yet. The problem is I can't ride the way I want on the highway. Trying to slow down, take it easy in turns etc., doesn't work for me and The MT-21's are a tad scary. Soooo, I bought a set of Kenda 270's today. The only sizes they had was a 510/17, 325/21. My question is, will the 510 fit? It looks close to the same width as the Perrelli. Has anyone ran a tire this size? If so, any problems? Now I've got to figure what to do with all the tires I now have. Two spare sets is overkill. When I went to a 510x17 Cheng Shin 858, it was too wide and rubbed the chain guard, which I had to remove. You may experience the same problem with the Kenda.

K270 in 5.10 just fits, I'm on my third one.

I run the same combo. Never had a problem on either of my bikes with the 5.10. [dsn_klr650] kenda 270's
I have a 5.10x17 on my bike now. There is a minimum of scrubbing on the
little black flap that separates the tire and chain. Also, after a VERY
muddy and rough ride, I saw some swirls on the muffler where there had been
some minor contact when packed with mud when the rear suspension was at full
compression.
It's a good dirt tire! It's still a bit hairy on the pavement, though.
Until the tire starts to wear, be VERY careful b/c is serious slippery!
After a few miles things tighten up a bit. With about 700 miles on mine (too
much on the pavement), mine still looks good and is a lot friendlier on the
pavement. The tall side knobs make it feel like the tire is low on air when
the bike is leaned...hardly precise but not dangerous.
I'm having a new front tire put on today. I made the tough decision that a
lot of my riding is on the pavement. So I elected not to get the Kenda on
the front and am going with an IRC GP-110. It looks fairly aggressive, but
doesn't have the tall side knobs that make peg-dragging impossible on the
MT-21 or K270. If the front does OK, I'll add one to the back when my Kenda
gets thin. Stay tuned.

You might try the IRC GP-1. Its similar to the Kenda, but not quite as aggressive I think. When they get worn in the rubber is pretty good on the street, and decent on the dirt. Jeff> gets thin. Stay tuned. > > Lamar > A14 (on the road for 6 days starting at 1 p.m. today!) >
