i'm back! (for now)
Howdy Arne, Waaassuup?
I have been so busy you couldn't believe. I was taking a total of 27
credit hours at two different schools last term. I got to experience
first hand many really cool manufacturing processes in my area, and
do some really cool hands on engineering. I got to see plastic
injection molding, powdered metalurgy, titanium and zirconium
seamless tube manufacturing, the manufacture of nuclear fuel rod
assemblies at Siemens, and the worlds largest extrusion press. That
extrusion press is cool, just like the Play-Doh fun factory, with
solid aluminum billets. I also designed and made a precision
gyroscope that can balance for nearly six minutes when spun with a 24
inch long cord. Cool stuff, I got to play with lathes, drill
presses, milling machines, a press, and a welder. Pretty fun stuff
that I wish I had in my garage at home.
Currently I'm taking two classes, one of which is a programming
class. In a couple of weeks I'll start some more classes, one of
which I'm really looking forward to is Mechanical Engineering 470,
Machine Dynamics, which caps off the classes I took last term,
Machine Design and System Dynamics.
Also, in a few weeks, I'm going to start my Senior Design Project. A
few of my compatriots and myself are going to be entering the Society
of Automotive Engineers Mini Baja contest. We have to design and
build and race in competitition a small offroad car. Check out this
site: http://www.sae.org/students/minibaja.htm
Busy busy. Next fall I start an internship at PNNL, the Pacific
Northwest Nationional Laboratory, run by Battelle. Meanwhile, I have
to (FINALLY) rebuild my KLR motor.

That must be it. You're reading the archives - not your own Email that has been dumped off your server correct? I have no control of archive responses. Sorry. Arne> that's what's missing.
