I think he is building his new 30,000 square ft. warehouse. I heard he went public last week and now has Malcom Smith working for him. The internet does strange things to people. OK so the stator is installed. Well it doesn't fit properly! Many things here so read along and don't get lost. First I installed the Heli-coils, nicely done if I may add. Second I installed the stator. Well the Electex stator has a thicker core than the stocker. SO the stock bolts are just long enough to get a couple-few threads in. THAT'S why they stripped in the first place. Well go buy yourself some longer bolts to fit there, cause it'll save you some headache. Don't bother trying to get 8.5 ft-lbs out of those stock bolts, even with a heli-coil it ain't gonna happen. I got to 7.5-8 and whoops one started to feel sorta like it was gonna pull out again. FOOEY FUDGE DARN AND RATS all over again. So I backed them all out, put on RED loctite and sent them back in. Future.... use two heli-coils per hole and get longer bolts. Better yet... get Electrex to make it right. Their instructions suck by the way. I am half way inclined for things mechanical and electrical so I figured out what I'm doing. Ok so the core is thicker and the heads of the bolts stick up past the stock position. Well when you put it together the heads mash on the magneto shaft. COME ON ELECTREX!! A quick hit with the dremel will fix it just fine. HHUUMMPFF! I had that cover all nice and clean from my drilling and tapping operations, I didn't want a dremel in there messing things up. Well that's off my chest.... Thanks for reading. If you are planning on installing the Electrex stuff, plan on not having it be a drop in replacement. There a good deal of work ahead of you.
