nklr front wheel stand for truckbed

Post by Charles Waddell » Mon May 22, 2000 2:30 pm

Now that I have my loose bolt problem taken care of I am ready to load up my KLR650 and my buddy's into the back of my truck to get to the good spots. One problem, I don't like the idea of just tying down the bikes in the back of the truck I want some kind of stand that will hold the front wheel in place while driving through the desert. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

nklr - tube valve stems

Post by George Basinet » Mon May 22, 2000 5:48 pm

Listers, After the numerous flats (4) that I had on my last trip I figured out the biggest problem was getting the tube stem inserted back into the rim. I had a tool in my tool box at home that was designed to do the job, except that it wouldn't work because the stem and stem hole are a fairly close fit. So I bought ($1.50) a 4-Way Tire Valve Tool. I removed the cross bar which was used to re-thread the inside of the valve core. Then I cut off about 1/4" from it. Drilled a small hole by the knurled part and threaded a piece of wire through it. I then attached the wire to the main body of the tool. Now when changing a flat I can remove the valve core and screw the tool into the stem, pull the tube out of the tire. Putting the tube back into the stem hole by pulling the wire back through the stem hole. Actually it is very simple project, except as I can see for my explanation. George Escondido, CA
