stuck in canada !!

My Moab trip is up in the air as I have some problems with crossing over to the U.S. To make a long story short, I'm a British citizen and had to have my passport renewed this year. When I received it it didn't have a Landed Immigrant stamp on it and I have been refused entry into the States without it. I applied to the government over two months ago for the stamp and they said it would take 6-8 weeks. Last week was 9 weeks so I gave them a call. They had no record of my application and have "lost" my forms and my $30.00!! If I reapply they say it now takes 3-4 months to process. My only hope is on thursday to go to the office in person and ask for them to process me for an "emergency situation". I am very pissed off to say the least. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
