IMHO, once you get past the DOT and Snell stickers, the biggest
consideration is comfort. And so it doesn't matter if 1000 people recommend
the Nolan or the Shoei, if it doesn't fit your head, it's the wrong helmet.
It seems the manufacturers have a specific head in mind for their products.
IOW, there are Shoei heads and Arai heads, etc. I have a Shoei head. I've
tried Arais and others, but Shoeis fit me better.
After comfort, other considerations are things like noise, weight,
ventilation, etc. The only way to really tell is to go into a shop and try
them on. If you have a good local shop, they may even let you take a test
ride. Now, the dilemma is: should you buy from the shop that has spent the
money on inventory and service to allow you to make a good decision, or do
you go out and buy the helmet mail order for tons less money?

(nklr) e-bay questions
I was looking on E-Bay for a GPS III+ and some were going pretty cheap. Any
thought how this is done so cheap? Anyone have any problems/comments on
using them?

None have Snell 95 certification. Why? Because no helmet manufacturer has ever submitted a flip-up helmet to Snell for testing. Why? Who knows? Don't sweat the Snell stuff. How do I get one of these Moron helmets? And are they the ones that look like a black cereal bowl turned upside down?
