I just feel that the AMA's position on helmet usage is inconsistent. The AMA
doesn't want the "Government" to tell us to wear a helmet. Yet when I was
racing AMA events, I was told in order to participate that I had to comply
with their rules which included wearing protective gear including a helmet.
When it comes to participating in an AMA event, the AMA is a dictator. So
when I ride on "Government" roads, seems to me that the Gov't has a right to
determine reasonable safety measures. Wearing a helmet is one of those
reasonable safety measures IMO. What's good for the goose is good for the
gander except when it comes to the AMA on helmet policy.
