I dont know how I would rate them on a percentage basis, but can tell you that they indeed work very well on KLRs. I have no intention of even trying another tire on the front of my KLR: another (my third) front AM24 will be ordered shortly. They are honest as hell on pavement or on a dirt road and last fine (up to 19,000 miles in one case). In my experience the AM 24 rear is outstanding on both pavement and dirt as well, but in mud fails badly. Thats OK, as my KLR has seen its last enduro trail anyway and I suspect nothing short of agressive knobbies will do much better. They last about 7,500 miles for me, very good for a DS tire but a bit shorter than ideal given the fact that this bike spends 98% of its life on pavement. I have run heavy touring street bike tires on the rear the last several times (an AM21 Roadrunner and Pirelli Strada) and find that for blasting gravel roads the perform *no* differently than the Gripster does in terms of traction, and I am getting 10,000-12,000 miles out of them. Of the two the Roadruner seems to work a little better and hold up slightly longer. My next rear tire will be a Cheng Chin touring/cruiser tire of some sort, as my father reports excellent service from them on his R100/7. -Tom '96 KLR 650 43,500 miles
