There are a few variations but they all revolve around "Original Equipment Maker" (or Manufacture, whatever). The term tends to be used on consumable parts like tyres or filters that are made by the maker of those parts that are used on the new bike, and are made to the factory specs. You could buy OEM Dunlops for your bike, or you could buy something else that was never fitted from the factory. If you want your bike to stay ultra bog standard then you stick with OEM parts, but not necessarily buy them from an authorised dealer as a Kawasaki replacement part. Mister_T> ... the list of acronyms were very helpful, thank you! I was wondering, > could I/we have some technical acronym "translations", like this OEM?
