George, I hope you enjoyed San Javier as much as I do. Its a regular stop
for me 3 or 4 times a year, I like to visit with Senora Arce who is the
caretaker at the mission and for some years now I have been bringing her
clothing to distribute to the local ranch kids, also school supplies. They
always need things that we take for granted like pencils and notebooks. When
I was there in December I was told that they had 5000 people for the 300th.
They said the Tecate trucks were running nonstop from Loreto. A great ride
is to go north from San Javier to Commondu and then on to La Purisima. From
there you can go north up the Pacific side or back east to Hwy 1. Looks like
I'm going to Mulege in the next 30 days, probably ride south from San Felipe
then to Bahia de Los Angeles, San Francisquito, and then back out to the
highway and do the salt flats road from San Ignacio to San Juanico and then
across to Bahia Concepcion. Wish I were there now!
