Once you rotate the carb, how do you actually detatch the choke cable? Does it just pull out?

If you are replacing the cable, make sure you put the rubbed nipple back on before you attach the enricher to the cable. It is not included on the new cable. it has a fairly fragile plastic fitting that screws into the side of the carbie...I think it takes a 14mm...if you try do do it w/o removing it from the handlebar and creating slack you will bung it up or crack it...FWIW it isn't a choke as we know it...it is a fuel enrichment circuit as you'll see when you get at it... Well, I just did the change out, and what a good tip you provided. Too bad I forgot to do it, though (doughhhh!). Anyway, that minor detail aside, I got everything back together and the choke (enricher) cable is working fine. The only problem is, I think the carb was tuned with the cable frozen and the enricher slightly engaged. Now that I have a working cable, the bike's not idling as well. To keep it from stalling, I had to set up the idle a bit. I also noticed some minor backfiring which seems to subside if I run with the choke slightly on. The cable adjustement at the lever is almost all the way out, so I have nowhere to go there. Any suggestions? -Dave KLR 650 A7
