automatic chain tensioners

Post by Dustin McCarty » Thu Apr 27, 2000 10:14 am

I grew up riding 3-wheelers and at that time ('80's) they were making an automatic chain tensioner which mounted beside the chain, was spring loaded and had some type of plastic/rubber/composite roller on it. the thing was mounted in such a way that the roller kept tension on the chain at all times, thus eliminating the need to adjust the chain as frequently. Anyone ever heard of this? Are they still in production for the 4-wheelers (one too many wheels, IMHO)? Would something like this work for a cycle (pardon my ignorance of the 2-wheeler world)? It would seem that the principle would be the same, but I may be missing something. Thanks for the inspiring, insightful, and comedic reaponses, Dust A14 "Rhino" Man with BIG Grin P.S. that oil level thing dropped like a lead balloon! Archives very entertaining though!!! ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
