[dsn_klr650] nklr: new issue of dsn

Post by billmonahan » Fri Apr 14, 2000 11:27 pm

I just got mine tonite.  Haven't read it yet, but perused it quickly, while cookin up a pizza and some salad.  Did notice the advertisement for the Idaho rally.    It is quite cool to have a mag that is written by the same guys I am on the list with....   I'm hopin to make it to Moab...it's important to me.  I'm just concerned that it may not coincide with the purchase of a new place for me, where I'll have enough room for the motorbikes and my dogs......so that's what, if anything, will keep me from makin it to Moab.  On the note of the Idaho rally though, I've been through the White Bird area where the Idaho rally is to take place, on the KLR, and can tell you there is some killer back road ridin of a not-to-be-forgotten type to be had there.....go to White Bird, take some of the dirt roads up the Salmon River into the Frank Church River of No Retun Wilderness, check out Florence and all the miles of roads and trails, swim in the clear and inviting water in the Salmon, see bears, bottom out those KLR rear shocks, and enjoy it...I'm going to be there myself, if I can, because August is Nez Perce Dual Sport Ride Month, (Idaho BMW Clud puts this one on) then there's the Stanley Stomp, and then the White Bird rally....you won't regret it.  There isn't enough time to ride all the roads up there, and the people aren't too bad either.......when I get into Idaho, I feel like I've gotten HOME finally.  It's that kind of place.  Montana aint' bad either.    Looking forward to August, as well as June, and July.  Life's short........ the local cabernet is very good, pardon me for ramblin'.   BBQ Bill

what size nut??

Post by Mike Magier » Sat Apr 15, 2000 8:54 pm

No, not me (I'm a big nut). Servicing the Unitrak, there's a bolt that goes through the most forward hole in the "funky 3-holed suspension part". (Is that the Unitrak?). Anyway, the bolt head and the nut are recessed. This is the one closest to the sidestand pivot, with the plastic caps you have to pry on before you get to em. Anyway, before I go buy yet ANOTHER socket, is it 21, 22 or 23 mm? Anyone . . . anyone . . .Bueller? Mike Magier 98 KLR650 GroundHog 99 ST1100ABS Sweetness
