handle bars / sore butt

Post by Ztib@aol.com » Mon Apr 10, 2000 12:12 am

I am convinced that the primary reason for getting a sore ass on 3 hr + road trips with the KLR (actually a Tengai) is because the upright seating puts too much weight on my tailbone. OK, the primary reason may be becasue I am too fat --BUT, if I lean forward somewhat, the pressure is alleviated and the soreness subsides. The problem is that leaning forward is unnatural give the ergonomics of the bike. I conclude that lower bars are the answer. I know that the lower bars will detract from the off road ergonomics, a sacrifice I am prepared to make as most of my riding is on roads where I have little need to stand on the pegs or horse the machine around. QUESTION: Does anyone out there have experience in putting lower bars on the KLR and if so, how much lower, etc. Thanks
