Robert
I have a friend whose wife bought him a Tom Tom for a Christmas present.
Yes it's very easy to use because it doesn't do much.
He cannot sit at his computer and plan a route and then upload it to the GPS.
He can only select a place where he wants to go then the Tom Tom finds a route.
That's great if you want to go down the interstate.
He really doesn't use the Tom Tom much but doesn't want to sell it
and make his wife feel bad.
With a Garmin you can plan your route ahead of time and them upload
it to the GPS using all the roads available on their maps.
You can even route on trails using the National Parks map package.
I'd check the Tom Tom unit you're looking very carefully to see if
You can program the route.
Otherwise for motorcycle use (at least my motorcycle use) it is
useless if you can't navigate down all the great back roads and
trails when you're out riding.

I have two TomTom's, one on my bike theTomTom Rider and its waterproof-but the ONE isn't so if this is for a bike application, go with Garmin. I have always found Garmin difficult to use a TomTom is a complete no brainer, don't have to look at the instructions. Maps on both are excellent, In 10's of thousands of miles I've only had it steer me wrong a couple of times.

What I really like about the Garmin 2650 is that it has voice. I have a
single earphone in my helmet. I could never look at the GPS while riding,
drinking latte, and talking on my Cell.
