I replaced the OEM battery with a sealed/maint. free one almost from the start three years ago. No vent tube to leak and no water checks. Hurray! A friend with a Ninja 500 gladly accepted my "old" battery for his bike. Mine's doing fine. I can put it on a Battery Tender and the light goes green {charged} within minutes. My friend's already replaced the battery I gave him. =) eddie
