I am looking to put some handguards on my bike. I was looking at the
Acerbis Rally 2. Does anyone have any input on these, or are there other
brands that are better?
Thanks,
Josh

I have the Tusk guards. I don't know that they are better but they work
well and are priced right.

Josh, most any handguards will work with a KLR. There are some combinations of bar bends and specific brand handguards that a little more persuasion to go together, but most any combo can be made to fit. Shop for price or shop for style. What ever tickles your fancy will work, so make this part of your multi-surface, adventure touring bike personal customization. If the rally-2 are the ones with integral turn signals, or have a plastic body, I suggest getting something else. The rally-pros (with a full aluminum bar inside the plastic) are decent but kind of pricey. Moose, Maier, Tusk, and others make inexpensive and perfectly good handguards. Enduro Engineering are really nice. The real question is, are you just keeping brush and weather off your hands, or preventing a broken lever in a fall. -- Devon Brooklyn, NY A15-Z '01 KLR650 '81 SR500 cafe racer "The truth's not too popular these days....." I like my Tusk handguards with the stock deflectors butchered and screwed on. They are extremely inexpensive and they sure look like they'll prevent a broken lever (haven't been offroad since I installed them). The 'unsophisticated' rectangular aluminum section looks a lot like that of the rear rack, which is to say they fit the style of the bike, if there is any. i have the moose brand now... had acerbis rally's they held up real
well after my bike was run over then pushed down the road... they
saved my control's/brakes... not to much damage to them either... i
like the moose aluminum ones better though... just a matter of
opinion and likes i guess... they all work well ;^)

I too have the Tusk guards, very few $$. I attached my OEM plastic to
the tapped holes on the front and saved even more $$. I use the $$ I
saved to buy fuel. Here in CA I'm paying up to $0.45 per mile for my
KLR running premium, $0.40 per mile for regular.

Ditto on the Tusk guards. They work well and are
certainly priced right. Stock plastic can be cut to
fit them too. Not terribly pretty, but functional.

I put the aluminum Cycra ProBends on my A17. They fit real snug and
the design fits the KLR well (I can't recall a time when they got in
the way of my hands). Wind protection is good. No modifications were
required to the bike (other than drilling out the throttle tube with
a dremel. I did use a pair of aftermarket bar ends to install
because they came with some cheesy bolt and rubber hose to
accomodate standard bars.

$0.45 a mile? Are you off an order of magnitude?
If gas is $2.00 a gallon and you get 40mpg, that's only $0.05 per mile.
