They show a picture of a sealed maintenance free battery but the CB14L-A2 they list is not a maintenance free battery. They advertise this battery at $69.95 which is a lot for a regular lead acid battery. I can sell you a noname maintenance free battery for your KLR for less. Need some help. Just purchased a battery for my klr. There is a green wire that is connected to battery on top of it. Old battery did not have it. Any ideas where in the heck does it go. Do I just ignore it.

The wire is for a sensor on some bikes - just not a KLR. Tuck it away and ignore it. =) eddie

I realize there has been a lot of battery talk of late, so I have been trying to find a non-spill battery for my 2013 KLR. I thought it would be simple project. I haven t been able to find one, the listed one have all had the wrong dimensions. The battery I have is 3.5 wide x 5 long X 6 high any thoughts, it would also be helpful to have amperage need of the KLR Skypilot [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

As far as I know without looking in my latest catalog is that your KLR should have the same battery as all the other older models. There are lots of Maintenance Free battery types on the market now. I believe that Yuasa makes the best Maintenance Free battery. I ll look up the 2013 KLR battery tomorrow and if they happen to be different, I ll let you know. I have a Shorai Lithium Iron battery in my CRF450X. I'm sure they make one that fits the KLR. On the plus side it weighs virtually nothing, and it's sealed. On the down side it's not cheap. The other ones to use would be Odyssey. They are also sealed, and can be mounted in any position. They've got plenty of sizes to choose from. They are also not cheap, but not as expensive as the Shorai. Ryan Phoenix, AZ RobertWichert wrote:

The standard battery is a 14L-A2 or compatible. 14 aH (amp-hours) For what it's worth, I tried two of the yellow four-pole AGM batteries in the KLR and both failed either due to vibration or long freeway rides. Here's Yuasa's spec page for the battery: http://www.yuasabatteries.com/battery.php?bID=B53&vID=3995 The compatible SLA battery (sealed lead acid - not AGM) is a YTX14AHL-BS: http://www.yuasabatteries.com/battery.php?bID=B171&vID=117 Note it is only 12aH http://www.yuasabatteries.com/battery.php?bID=B171&vID=117 http://www.yuasabatteries.com/batteryprint.php?id=171#>Battery Family: High Performance, Maintenance Free Battery Type: YTX14AHL-BS Voltage: 12 Capacity: 12 Dimensions: 5.3125" x 3.5" x 6.9625" Weight: 7.7lbs. Sent from my iPad I think my battery may be failing. What do I need to check that it is going bad? Should I put it on my charger overnight before I check it? Criswell
