Hello Bruce;

The master cylinder on my car had a smaller hole in the bottom of the reservoir than most do. I had a terrible time getting my brakes bled. What I finally did is filled the system from the bleeders valves. I used a pump oil can and a small rubber hose.

Fill a pump oil can with brake fluid, then open a bleeder valve and attach a vinyl hose from the oil can to the bleeder valve, then pump. Once the brake fluid started filling the reservoir from the bottom, I filled the reservoir from the from the top and bled the brakes in the normal manner.

The problem was that the drain hole in the bottom of the reservoir was much smaller than the normal hole. Now that everything is filled the brakes work just fine.

Have a great day.

I had master cylinder rebuilt several years ago . Installed it but never put brake fluid in it, there to be a small leak I believe somewhere hard see with the heat box .This morning we tried to start bleeding the brakes and no fluid would move , disconnected the line and no fluid comes out.?I seem to recall back sometime ago an notice regarding rebuilt master cylinders . I am assuming I have to remove the master cylinder. I am going use turkey baster to remove fluid . Any ideas? Bruce Doran-Veevers 613-299-7523

Hey Bud,

Someone pinched your idea of recognizing that bubbles float up  & proper way to bleed brakes if to not fight physics, but to reverse bleed.  See http://www.brakebleeder.com/solutions/bleeding-brakes/

I had master cylinder rebuilt . It was assembled wrong , so I reassembled it and tried off the car . It appeared work fine . I reinstalled on the car and started to pump the pedal so to bleed brakes . We released the bleed screw no fluid , continue to pump the pedal , now I am unable to move the pedal it is frost. Any ideas Bruce Doran-Veevers 613-299-7523
