There's a huge difference between being a bullseye shooter (qualifying range) and being a competent marksman under extreme pressure. Very few civilian LEO's have the opportunity to fire on a Hogan's Alley type range. The vast majority of officers fire poor scores on the range. Those who are good with firearms shoot everyday in all weather and all hours. There's a few lucky shots and a little divine intervention, other than that you'd better be ready when the situation presents itself. And use enough gun. Hi Windflower: "Obsessions Die Hard," remember the book? Glenn Hegstad said,
"This tour is an exercise in determination." Your spirit personifies the
feelings of long distance motorcycle riders -- no matter their gender. I
can t tell you how sorry I was to hear of your accident and injuries. I
cried for 2 hours. Even now my eyes are wet recalling it. I am gratified
almost as much as you and Kris, that you got prompt help from good friends,
that your injuries weren t worse and you are alive and will get well. I m
sorry I wasn t their in your time of need as you were for me in Colombia and
Quito. We all know that some things are not within our abilities to control
-- like what other people do with their vehicles. I have had a video run
through my mind countless times imagining the instant before you impacted
the car. I imagined you with your Chicago/Polish accent saying, not "Oh
shit," but "You mudderfukker." We will be back in the states in April. If it
is possible, we will try to get to Moab, Utah in June for the rally and to
see you. Get well soon, amiga. Later.

Harry,
Ooooh, nice troll. OK, I'll bite.
Where do you get your data about looking bad in court if you have to
shoot an attacker more than three times? Citations, please.
What handgun cartridge stops the attack in one shot every time,
please? Citations, please. Yes, I own and have read Sanow and
Marshall's books on so-called one-shot stops. Yes, I have read the
International Wound Ballistics Association's journals.
Every book I have read on self-defense using a firearm (Ayoob,
Taylor, Farnam, etc.) says to keep shooting the attacker as rapidly
as possible until he/she stops attacking (and no more). Every course
I have taken says the same. Some advise two rounds to the torso
followed by one to the cranium, others advise to keep shooting at the
center of mass.
Even Federal .45 ACP Hydra-Shoks do not have a 100% first round
stopping record. Nothing fired from an handgun does, so far as I
know. Do you?
I am aware of a documented case where cops had to shoot a perp doped
up on Angel Dust (PCP) 33 times to bring him down.

P.S.: Give me an oil thread any time. Anybody else read MCN's latest
test?

You amateurs should use a gun that will finish the fight with one
shot.
You look very bad in court if you shoot the perp more than three
times.
