I found that a stainless steel hose clamp is a permanent and inexpensive fix. Just run the clamp around the shield and header and tighten the clamp. No vibration, no hassle. At less than $1 cost it fits perfectly with the "redneck engineering" culture of KLRistas worldwide. From those post a lot of people said what I expected, "NORMAL", and PAIN TO REPAIR. I would say like the Doo hickey, do some P.M.S. (P.M.S. U.S. Navy for, Preventive Maintenance Service) Take it off BEFORE it wears and have washers welded over the holes for REINFORCEMENT. No welder?, I would think MOST muffler shops, ETC. would do it for about $10.-$20. Cheaper then a new shield and LESS WORK LATER.
