Wait until you have some miles on the K270's. They are a bit squirrelly when new but that quickly goes away and they perform very well. My next set didn't bother me at all and they are my number one recommendation for the KLR for general purpose.
I almost took mine off.......shows what a difference some miles make.

high speed wobble

SNIP Dave, Isn't it satisfying to resolve an issue? It is almost as satisfying for us as it is for you to help resolve those problems! Glad you got it figured out. The K270 is an enigma for weight. My bike has weight added, Dan Stuarts tires need none. shrug. Toy with the air pressure in 2-3# increments on the K270. I ride with Jeff Saline in the SD Black Hills, and pressure up to 32F/36R because of the canyon carving. Back home in central SD where the county only has TWO paved curves in the entire county, I am presently aired down to 26/30, and my riding friend AJ (N.E. SD) rides his KLR-K270 equipped bike at 18/22. The lower air pressure makes for more exciting riding on big sweepers South of Sturgis, SD! and of course, YEMV =your excitement may vary! revmaaatin.> > I think I have fixed the high speed wobble; it was probably the wheel > balance.

Amin,
The weight comparison is wrong. They both weigh the same. Kawi has under reported the KLR's weight for years. Fueled and ready to go, the bikes weight around 400-410 lbs.

After comparing the specs. off the old school KLR 650 with the 2008 model, it's clearly visible that the '08 is way to heavy to fit as a dual bike (at least in my opinion). The new one weighs 386 pounds, while the old one weighs 337 pounds. I'm sure the new one kicks ass, but I love how the old school one handles. If I were to choose between keeping my 2006 or trading for a '08, I would stick to the '06. __________________________________________________________ Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let Yahoo!
