Murray,
There used to be a bloke in Perth who made TC etc wiring looms, perhaps
a call to Mike Sherrell or Harry Pyle could point you in his direction,
if he is still doing looms.

We purchase dashboard wiring harnesses from Rhode Island Wiring for
the dashboard jobs that we do & they are excellent. They can be found

Wiring
Hello Group,
Has anyone made a record and description of how the TC wiring harness
is installed, location of the clamps etc.,etc? We are struggling a
bit getting my new harness in place.

Hello responders et al,
Chip and I worked on installing the British Wiring Harness in TC 7773
today and managed to finish the job. Some observations and questions:
The harness is thicker than what was in there originally, believed to
be stock, making it hard to pull it through the holes provided in
brackets etc. Could be done though, but is a two man job, pulling and
pushing at the same time.
The separat harness for the tail lights and flashers offers more than
apple length and if used as is calls for storage somewhere under the
frame. Where?
British Wiring did not include a wiring diagram and guidance for the
installation of the harness. Sure would have been appreciated. Why
not?

Bjorn no one provides that sort of information, it would take an
incredible amount of knowledge of every car that they make a harness
for for them to do what you are asking as well as probably a book the
size of War and Peace to keep it in. Most professional restorers take
lots of pictures before removal and then they still ask questions

Hi Bjorn, I am faced with the same problem in the future. TC's forever is
written in Australian and the short description is difficult at the best to
understand. Don't mind those other guys, they just guessed the routing when
they did theirs.
From looking at other cars (some original) the extra wiring at the front and
back was just run back and forth on the front and rear spreaders and tie
wrapped in place. Mind you they did use an original type of tie wrap that I
believe is still available. I think it was made from thin metal. That is
all I know.....everything.

Well, I confess I'm an engineer who just like to have things properly documented so here I am with a car that does not come with a workshop manual and no records of how the wiring is installed. OK, so that is part of the charme and challenge of these vintage things I guess. In truth, the only real problem fitting the new harness was the fact that it was thicker than the original. Pulling the lead through the headlight bracket was really tough. My fingers are still sore.

I have the original Instruction Manual for the TC, 1954 edition, 5 "KEY" pages which on quick scan contain the same info although W. Number diagrams change pattern, the KEY Codes are the same.
In the TD factory workshop manual the key is the same BUT with the addition of 2 extra keys #65 Dark Green & #66 light Green. Blower's does not show the extra 2 items for the TD. AND the diagram and key are not separately shown for TF. but have notations to dippers and turn signals. . .
In my later edition of Blower's (the green soft cover 1970 version) I find changes listed . .
from TA thru TC W70482 (SN 3414 forwards) the same then a change occurs which now matches the Above instruction manual. This information is consistent with the 1957 (RED book Hard cover edition)
Herein lies a discrepancy. . but it seems the SN 3414 and forward is W70482.
and is shown for W75841 marked as TC 1948/9 Export USA. All the keys in the instruction manual for TC share the color codes, but Blower's has earlier version diagrams marked TA or TB and TC 3414 onwards and is NOT the same. . .
I can scan any which are of help on request. . .
I cannot 'read' the diagrams. .but can read some of the circuit numbers. .At the time of publication the cost of actually color coding the manual was not even considered making it hard to follow for the non-electricians.
Does anyone remember the costly transparency overlay color sheets some manuals had? They were in sales brochures, of some other cars . .. My education on the subject of 4 stroke engines came by way of such a booklet made for Hillmans in the 50s.

Wiring
Years ago I wired my TC with turn signals using a diagram that had a single relay box like the TD. My harness has all the wires needed. Does anyone have a copy of this diagram I seem to have lost mine. All the diagrams I see on the web use 2 relay boxes.
