Sounds a whole lot like my life story, except I was the one who bought the TA and then shipped it to the US. Bought it from my father-in-law in Ipswich, England. Ron was a craftsman in the truest sense of the term but while he could do anything with wood he didn't know crap about cars and the TA was beautiful and filled my eyes with stars. Then in 1980 I started to read about the marque and found that he had crafted a tub from body filler!!! The engine was crap, it ran but all the bearings were shot, and . . well there in no sense in going on. In the end I put it in storage for 13 years while we were overseas and had to disassemble it prior to having it picked up. Don't ask why, it was necessary. . .. ! in 1995 I began the rebuild process which consisted of trashing the entire tub including the wings. I could go on but to end this tale of misery I will just say, Don't Buy Until You Have A Highly Qualified Expert inspect The Car! The TA now has a complete rolling chassis and a semi/mostly complete tub . . . . and I have physical, age and money problems that get in the way of finishing it, but I can't sell it, can't give it away, and can't finish it! It sits in my shed getting covered with dust and spiders. Oh, well, not a cheery tale but appropriate for a cold, wet, fall morning in Virginia! Dennis NelsonManassas, VA1939 MG TA TA3074

In parts. Most of which was crap. If you are buying a car that didn't come with lots of new parts, don't pay much. The body will be trash, the engine probably also (find a nice XPAG or XPEG). Make sure the rear spring stanchions aren't buggered. Doug Pelton makes an excellent replacement reserve fuel switch. Be sure to get one. Good luck. Allan Chalmers - TA with 1500 sleeved XPAG.

Hi Allan,

Any problems with the sleeved XPAG? Will they all sleeve or only the 4/44 blocks.

Regards,
