I've had my Scout for a few weeks and am awaiting a Nikon extended eye relief scope. It is analogous to a KLR as far as utility, as it does sort of fit the "if I could have only one rifle" criteria. It will hunt and it will serve as self defense, and the bolt action is pretty stone reliable. The one primary difference from a KLR is the matter of power - a .308 slug from a 16 1/2" barrel is a bit more authoritative than twisting the green machine's throttle . . .
