i agree with a past post on this. i cannot tell how many times afte i mention a trip i am either planning or have taken a out how thes two have done THE TRIP. with commentary to the effect of how no ine can top it. first bitch to this is ..... one did gou every wonde why two welloff guys needed sponsorship and plenty of ordinary folk do not? they mention the sponsership on all interviews i have seen. next why the video was so good?? who held the camera???? once you think down those lines and learn about the crew thwy beought and did not talk about. you start to get the REALITY SHOW EFFECT. ie prenting you are not being fooled. case in point in SURVIVOR do you really think anyone starved when the film crew and such had catered meals in front of them? okay done point made i have been camping on motorcycles all over the us since 1975 well before adventure touring was a concept apart from just riding a motorcycle. back then many camped as hotels diid not like us and frankly most. of us kids with. ike were broke had fun though

Also in the UK there is a thing of doing stuff for charity...like climb Mount Everest. They raise 100k and spend 98k on the trip of a lifetime, then give 2k to charity. This makes them all warm and fuzzy like...and in between they have not had to work for the 98k that is costs to do such a trip. Also IIRC there are plenty of tax breaks on charity stuff, so they might not have had to pay VAT(17.5% at the time) Watch Mondo Enduro for self filmed work. LWR was just done on a more professional scale. Jack

I have to play devils advocate and say something. I understand and agree with everything that you're all saying. I would like to bring up one point: In order to do a "professional" series they needed all the support they had. Meaning trucks and all. You gotta say that the series are done really well. On top of that it got a lot of people into motorcycling and especially adv motorcycling. Hell, it got me into it. I got me a KLR!!! Even though lots of things very staged I have to say that Evan's "acting" was better and more honest then in most of the movies he did. And you gotta appreciate Charlie's humor. He's a funny guy. Bottom line- I think it helped the Moto community and brought attention to the beauty of traveling and especially traveling on a motorcycle. My two cents... -David Z mobile: 646.267.1109 www.davidzmusic.com www.thevanguardband.com

The Duke (John Wayne) did NOT need all that stuff, Just his horse and a single blanket, and we all loved his Adventure shows.

valve stem nuts???

Post by Tengai Mark Van Horn » Mon Sep 03, 2012 7:46 am

Up against the cap! The only thing that nut is good for is to keep the stem from popping back in through the hole during installation. Mark
