I'm on a 2007 currently at 79,500 and I'm sure hoping it'll carry me safely home in another 8,000 or so. Mark (from Paramaribo, Suriname, where it rains like nothing you've ever seen)

I am transferring EVERYTHING from a bent frame 1998 to a 2006 frame. The plastics are all scratched, and the cowl and rear fender are bad. The tank has many dents so will be Bondo'd and bed-linered or replaced with plastic. Looking for a set of plastics that are consistant in color, and cheap. Anybody got some? Cash or partial trade for: Ricochet skid plate, TPI faux Corbin seat, Sig P225, 16' tin canoe.

I assume you mean how many miles out of a well-maintained motor and not the mpg - Mine has 42k on it and is still going strong. Needed a valve job at 24k due to lack of maintenance by the previous owner. Needed a new spring installed on the shifter pawl at 41k. I think some guys here have 70k or more on their KLRs. It's down to how well you take care of it. It's not a Honda Civic, it needs periodic maintenance. -- ian http://www.scarletfuries.com http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Scarlet-Furies/121218125931 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I wasn't referring to the Civic's performance but its reputation of being able to keep running without maintenance and withstand just about all forms of neglect short of being run without oil. Having said that, in my neck of the woods there are some very quick Civics. They're not stock, of course. I don't try and win drag races on my KLR. It's got 42k on it and probably doesn't have all the compression it used to. If I want to leave cars in the dust, I have to dust off the VX800.
