nklr - need a carfax report?
Hi Tumu,
It's a very thoughtful thing you did, offering use of your
subscription. I did not start off meaning to incite you with my
insight. I just wanted to add a caveat emptor, especially since a
member of my family used the service a few years back, and I had
thought highly of the company until reading the article included in my
first post here.
I'll decline on your kind offer for use of Carfax, from what I can
tell it won't work for me in CA - that and I don't need a used auto
right now.
I was out riding this weekend, on Saturday I rode around in the Santa
Cruz Mtns., a very pleasant 4-hour ride with mid-ride tavern stop to
visit with friends. Sunday I was home, it being Superbowl and all.
Tonight the wife and I are looking forward to watching "Taken" at the
cinema, we've both received high recommendations for this film.
I trust no hard feelings...
Glenn

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has a large database of
flood/hurricane, stolen and not recovered, and other vehicles that
were declared a total loss. It would be worth plugging in a
questionable vehicle VIN and checking it out.

None at all. Too bad nobody offers an Oilfax report to see exactly what kind of oil people are using in their vehicles. Now THAT would be a fun thread! da Vermonster> > I trust no hard feelings... > > Glenn

I always thought it would be a great idea that when you had you car serviced it would send the information to 'someplace' where a potential buyer in the future could see all the work done on the car, each oil change, and when it was done, new tires, new a/c compressor, any work done and the shop would allow the data to be sent to a web site where anyone could login and check on a car!> > --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com > , "ltslpr" wrote: > > > > I trust no hard feelings... > > > > Glenn > > None at all. THat's why I keep all the paperwork, that way a potential buyer can sift
through all of it and see what's been done. Use little tabs to highlight
the major stuff (radiators, engine work, end-links, suspension, brakes etc).
I even punch everything in on the computer to get a running tally of what
the car(s) cost me per mile, what mileage I get and what maintenance has
been done (easily found vs digging in papers).
Some people like autocheck.com more than others. I'm glad that someone
offered up the carfax service to us. Much obliged.
