Kevin, If your are senile, then you may want to apply to our forums "Old Geezers Club". You need to be 55 for full membership but we take "Associate Members" who apply before that age. There is no cost but the title of "Old Geezer ClubMember(age)" is one of distinction and honored amount our younger mere mortals. Capt. Bob in Durham, CT. Well I will have to wait another 5 years but I really appreciate some more salt in the wound. Actually though I feel about 30 especially after climbing back into the saddle of my KLR. All this over posting in the wrong message. You guys must be bored. I suggest a long ride on your scooter! wheelie

Post by roncriswell@sbcglobal.net » Wed Nov 19, 2008 8:58 am

I pulled a nice little wheelie yesterday on a ride out to the lake on the KLR (not as easy to wheelie as some of my lighter dirt bikes). No fancy clutch work, just rolling and snap the throttle off to compress the forks, then snap it back on maybe yanking on the bars a little. Came up pretty good and rode it up a little. I thought I was in second but tried it a couple more times on the way home to no avail. Just had about a quarter tank of fuel which helps. Just glad I wasn't on the Connie as driveshaft bikes can't wheelie. Heh! Criswell

If it really is a joke and driveshaft equipped motorcycles cannot pull a wheelie, can someone explain to me how Charlie Boorman pulled several wheelies on his big, fully laden BMW GS on the DVD "Long Way Round"? Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "roncriswell@..." wrote:

Ross, You GOTTA look REALLY close - his Beemer was converted to CHAIN-DRIVE just so he COULD do wheelies!!! Cheers, Ed ; >)

While computers and the internet are a powerful tool for the dissemination of knowledge, that same power is readily corrupted by charlatans and scammers. Without Photoshop and other deceptive devices, the myth that shafties can wheelie would never have left the starting gate.
