fuel leaking through cylinder into exhaust pipe

Post by Max Sinklair » Mon Jun 04, 2007 11:42 pm

I havn't seen an emissions model yet, but I would assume there is some sort of exaughst recirculation to reburn the unspent fuel. Also maybe a tie from the carb breathers/canistor to the exaughst. It may not have gone through the cylinder and up the pipe, but instead started at the pipe through these possible connections and down to the engine. Again, I have not seen how the emissions equipment is hooked up. -Max ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get your own web address. The emissions mod bikes have two pipes 1/8 inch diameter ponting backwards at the rear of the fuel tank, under the seat. Two rubber lines connect these tank vent lines to the standard charcoal vapor canister that you will find on most cars. the charcoal absorbs the fuel vapor and then the carb ports the stored fuel fumes to the engine when running. There are no Exhaust recirculating plumbing routes on this mod. I think this system does nothing to hinder the performance of the bike, other than an extra pound of equipment weight. At the least, these mods do help the environment and all those lovely critters out there. Lord knows, I used to not believe in all that smog / pollution bu##$%it. But after living here in the Southwest for 10+ years I have really see a lot of changes with pollution. When I moved here I could see 150 miles on a clear day. Now I am lucky to get a clear view of the mountains that are only 20 miles away.

Did the group pass the "Fuel Leaking through Cylinder into Exhaust pipe" quiz? Fred --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "jeepaviation" wrote:

Hi Harry, What a testimony of love. When I 'discovered' my very-lovely, soon-to-be wife, one of my single friends asked, "Does she have any sisters?" If you keep telling others about how your wife bought you a new '08 KLR, men will be flocking to your doorstep, asking, "Does your wife have any unmarried sisters?" My wife, by the way, is equally tolerant of my motorcycle (sic) addiction. revmaaatin. Iron horse in the Sioux Empire NOTE: it is motorcycle (sic) addiction, not sick MC addiction.... although they might not be to far apart
