I want to pull it out and pick up a couple of bulbs. I have not done this before and gentle pulling, turning etc from the back does nothing to get the bulb out. Can someone blast me over the correct procedure for removing and replacing the standard bulb? Doe the fairing need to come off? Capt. Bob in Durham, CT. Todd, I'm sorry to hear it! I can't say as I've ever heard of that problem, either, although the dealer's description isn't too detailed, either. (I'm wondering why it requires a whole new carb?) Regardless, this seems like a fluke and not a common failure point. quick question
My 03 does not use the push and turn method of
removing the bulb socket. After you pull the rubber
boot from the back of the bulb, there is a little
wire spring that you push in, move it off it's catch,
then release and the bulb socket then comes right out.
Very quick and painless. No need to remove the
fairing, but you do need to remove that black piece of
plastic inside the fairing. I just left the plastic
piece off because it doesn't seem to do anything.
Maybe I'm missing something?
