Hello Bill, Good chance your rear brake switch is stuck, as it is living in the dirtiest environment of the two switches. Check to see if the rear brake switch plunger is fully returned. If not, 1) Disconnect the pedal/pull spring on the brake pedal, 2)the top electrical connector, and 3)remove the switch. Spray in out really well with electrical contact cleaner, until the internal return spring smoothly returns the plunger each time. I then gave mine a shot of PLS 3 (an aviation contact cleaner, anti corrosion, magic spray, cure all, etc) for lubrication. Early on in my inital ownership 3 years ago, mine was sticking, leaving the brake light ON full time. I would (trail side) spray it out with WD-40 and it would work for several 100 miles, and then repeat/fault again. It was so 'stiff' on the return, I ordered a new one (~$18) for the tank bag, but was able to make it work again, with a R/R and a thorough cleaning with contact cleaner. Make sure after you install the switch, that you have it adjusted so that when you depress the brake switch, you get brake lights. Just as a matter-of-course, I preflight my brake lights/switch before the first ride of every day so that I will know if I have an operational brake light when I apply the brakes. Two years ago, stuck brake lights were the most common 'problem' we encountered while on the GDR, riding 100's of miles in the dust. The lead bike (with the preprogrammed GPS), oddly (;~D), did not experience any brake light problems.... revmaaatin.> > Help: Brake light stays on when not engaged. It's a Yahoo! problem--it's happening on other lists as well. The OP
is probably not at fault here. Please just ignore the dupes.
