Dooden's fixit is similar to the Soviet/NASA fix for writing in space.
NASA developed a pen that has positive pressure above the ink so that
it will write in a gravity-free, or in a vacuum, right side up, upside
down. They advertised them for years in magazines, "Developed by NASA,
etc." The US cost is reported in the ....well, it was bu-coo bucks.
The Soviet response? Use a 5-cent pencil, as graphite does not care
about gravity. Sometimes it pays to be Master of the Obvious.
Sometimes, good enough, really is, good-enough.
(I say all this as though looking into a mirror.) The A-men choir may
now sing.
Sometimes we are over technologized for our own good. It happens to me
often. Not to be confused with over-farkled, as in, buying more KLR
farkle....(;~0)

Ps. clear nail polish works good on killing chigger bites if you ride
far enough
south in the spring and summer to find chiggers, aka red-bug. If you
never got in a mess of chiggers, you are in for one, miserable,
surprise...
Pps. It really does not have to be "clear" nail polish. You just get
fewer strange looks from the gal at the cosmetic counter when you go in
to pay.

fan on temp '05 klr
For trivia, don't forget that the fan temp switch is in the "Cold" tank of the radiator, not the "Hot". As a rule of thumb based on lots of testing, there's a 10 degree drop across the radiator when the stat is wide open, if you're moving and getting airflow. Obviously at a stoplight this drops to zero degrees.
Anyway... my point: Water temp exiting the engine is more like 211-221F when the fan comes on.
