I thought about that but did'nt want a large plate catching on stumps and rocks, so I carry a $.59 rounded corner electrical box cover, typically with a zip tie in a hole to make picking it up easier, a string would work better, but I did'nt need to be wrapping up a dirty string and stuffing it into my fannypack (strapped to rack, not my fanny) Works nice, outer area holds the elec. box plate perfect with a small rag under it, and the larger compartment is big enough for a spare shift lever, small combo "Metric/SAE" adjustable Cresent wrench, pack of smokes or anything around that size. I also use it on blacktop, when the sun warms that stuff the KLR kickstand sinks right on in, so the plate stops that also. The Cycoactive map window clipped to my crossbar actually proves to be more convenient for stashing my sidestand plate, a plastic one made for the purpose that somebody gave me. It is attached to the LH mirror stalk with about 4 ft. of parachure cord, which allows me to pick up the plate after I am in the saddle, wind the cord around it, and stow it. The map window also holds spare ear plugs, tooth picks, paper oil funnels, rally receipts, and every once in a while, a map or route sheet.> --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "rsanders30117" wrote: > > That's a good point about the sinking kickstand, especially if you > > get off the pavement as a KLR is intended. I stash my super-cool carbon-kevlar kickstand plate in the back outside pocket of my Wolfman tank bag, with a cord attached to the bag. The Wolfman glove box would be a handy spot too, but I've taken my windscreen off to reduce noise, so I can't use the glove box. No, I didn't actually pay for a carbon fiber plate--a buddy of mine who makes trick carbon parts for KTM 950's made if for me out of scrap. __Arden> and every once in a while, a map or route sheet.

Is anyone running 13/45 with stock chain? I got a second set of wheels
mounted up w/MT21's and want to run lower gearing with the stock chain.
What is the biggest/smallest you can go....looks like 13/45 for stock.
How bout w/new chain? Are there other better choices besides JT?
