dual star led application for klr650

Walt, I will have to conceed on the flashing stop lamp as the section you qouted clearly allows it. I was not familiar with that section and I stand corrected. I still disagree on the FMVSS aplicability to end users and the 26101 thing. 26101 says "nor shall any person use upon a vehicle, any device that is intended to modify the original design or performance of any lighting equipment" Per CHP and case law you change it = you prove it's ok or you busted. same for same replacement is not an issue on any level, just same for something else not the same. 26104 states Every manufacturer who sells, offers for sale, or manufactures for use upon a vehicle devices subject to requirements established by the department shall, before the device is offered for sale, have laboratory test data showing compliance with such requirements. here "department" refers to CHP. Does dual star have lab data to show compliance - I have no idea. There is no single standard that this issue can be determined by, several agencies regulate and enforce different aspects of motor vehicles. As to this and any other points of differing opions, well, that is what makes this a great country to live in. Again, I changed out all of my lighting headlamp, tail/stop lamp, and turn signals, but I accept the risk it brings. In the end, don't mess with stuff unless you're prepared to accept the risk. Walt, clearly you have more knowledge than a lot of the wet behind the ears cops out there and might not mind the battle to prove your right. I think most people would like to avoid the whole mess in the first place. Plus, how much does it cost to fight a ticket, time off work, etc. The cop gets paid, pretty well at that, to be there, not the driver. I abandon my arguement in favor of holiday bliss. Scott D........God I hate eating crow.
