I also wear a Arai quantum on the street and love it. I wear a fox racing motoX helmet for offroad or dual sporting.

LOL! Smarta$$! Although.....it does sound like a VERY good idea! LOL Got it saturday. I knew big displacement thumpers vibrated but I had no idea! Largest thumper before the 650 was a 250 and it's nothing in comparison. On the ride home from the dealer, one license plate bolt vibed out and the plate almost fell off. Luckily it caught it before it did and wired it back on. Gotta get another bolt today. Later that day, I noticed both fairing bolts were backing out. This morning going to work my speedometer quit working. Cable nut had vibed off and cable was just hanging. I'm going to buy stock in blue loctite right now! Does the vibes decrease as it breaks in? I sure hope so. Also, does putting the eagle mfg doohickey in it help reduce vibes?> > > > > > > >Does anyone have a suggestion on helmets? > > > > > Get yours polished. > > Bogdan

Break in maybe but I don't thing the doohickey upgrade helps. While you're in there check to see if the balancer system is timed properly. Some have reported that it wasn't. May be the reason why some klrs vibrate way more than others. Bogdan> Does the vibes decrease as it breaks in? I sure hope so. Also, does > putting the eagle mfg doohickey in it help reduce vibes? >

That's a great idea! I am astounded that a bike would run without REAL
terrible vibrations if that balancer was off even one tooth. Has anyone
here seen a confirmed case of a balancer being mis-set and still run? If
so, were the symptoms real obvious? Looking for testimony under oath here -
not opinion.
Thanks.

Yeah me, and my A9 is the case.> That's a great idea! I am astounded that a bike would run without REAL > terrible vibrations if that balancer was off even one tooth. Has anyone > here seen a confirmed case of a balancer being mis-set and still run? >
Obvious ? Is the Pope Polish ?> If so, were the symptoms real obvious? >
Hey, no one lies on the internet. Actually the klr list isn't bad. My sprocket insert took a dump east of St. Louis. The bike immediately started vibrating like a California gubernatorial candidate's favorite tool. Rode to Colorado with the bike in that condition ( 1k miles ). I developed a blister on my throttle hand. When I opened the bike, I -and a witness - found the chain had moved over 2 or 3 teeth on the sprocket. I posted the hole story here at the time. If you want I'll provide more details. I wasn't that bad under 4k rpm. Bogdan> Looking for testimony under oath here - not opinion. >

That's almost what I was looking for and I probably expressed my question
badly. The post I was responding to suggested the balancer misalignment as
causal to a new KLR owner who was commenting on how bad his bike vibrated.
What I am looking for is if there is a way the balancer could be off a
minimal amount (that would be one tooth on a sprocket?) and still run OK but
with more vibration. I wanted to find out if it were possible to run around
with a maladjusted balancer and, having nothing to compare it to, think it
was normal, albeit heavy, vibration.
Your experience sounds more like a radical failure with a '2 or 3 teeth'
positioning error + improper tensioning and I would expect a Polish Pope in
that case.
Anyhow, I'll be checking at this month's Julian doohickey party.
BTW, I was not suggesting anyone would fib. I just wanted to underscore
that I was looking for real-world evidence. How about it? Anyone out there
open up their engine and get a balancer out-of-position surprise?

portable bead breaker
I think the pliers like portable bead breaker is called the Tire Wizard.
It may be made by Pro Lever. I did a quick google search and found a
review but no source. If you locate a place to purchase them please post
to the list. I saw one used two years ago and they are as good as the
advertisements say they are.
