Yup, that sand, mud, rocks thing will work every time, sometimes when you don't even expect it to. Marshall in Slidell, La

throttle locks???

Rod, If you want a cheap throttle lock, which is always engaged, put an o ring between the grip and the housing. I did this to my KLR 250 and it works like a charm. I used the o ring from a BMW oil filter, it's flat sided, don't know if that makes a difference though. If you want one, contact me off list, I'll put one in the mail. Hope this helps. Have fun & ride safe. Anthony D16 '83 R100RS Message: 12 Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2002 03:44:13 -0000 From: "fishknot2000" Subject: Throttle Locks??? I thought after a little time and patience someone would have the final say on a throttle lock for the KLR. Though I haven't been through all of the "opinions", most require engineering (which is great if it is dependable at the end) and some are stupid. A cohort put a universal one on his and he looked like a monkey doing a football. Any great successes out there? Rod [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

This is a favored method over on the COG list as well... They use a CAT O-ring, I've seen the pics of it and it huge and thick and bright yellow. Costs something like $1.50 from a CAT dealer. If anyone is interested the part number is: 8M4991 Z DC no kids, no car, no afterschool piano practice.

Introduction of permanent friction/stiction into throttle operation? It's a step backwards. BTW, seems to me that if you haven't the hand/arm strength to hold open a CV carb without a "throttle rocker," perhaps you shouldn't be riding. A pair of 40 Dellortos, maybe, a Mikuni CV, no. Clint

transalp for sale.

Post by Mark » Wed Jan 16, 2002 1:22 pm

Howdy, A few days ago I mentioned that there's a Transalp for sale in my town of Bellefonte, PA, smack dab in the center of the state. The newspaper ad states: Honda Transalp 1989 600cc V-twin_ Great do-it-all bike. Immaculate condition Garage kept 10,200 miles Corbin seat SS brake lines Rifle fairing BMW accessory plug for electric vest, etc. $3,500 Firm 814-355-9286 after 5PM EST No affiliation with the seller, but I've seen the bike around and would give it a look if I had the $$. However, there are 2 Transalps rolling around my town. Ask him if he's the original owner. If not, ask him when and where he bought it. If he says he got it at Track & Trail about 5 years ago, try to knock his price down, 'cause I think they were asking $3,600 for it back then. Mark B2 A2 A3
