Hey, at least you're aware of it. That gives you the power of self awareness; not much I'll admit. Bogdan> CA Stu >

In the DSN back issues, is an article about a guy who built 727 and 770
KLR650 motors. I think he had 30,000mi on the 727, and he built the 770
(no balancer system) to further test reliability. Was not able to blow
up the 770 by the time the article ran. Besides the overbore, one motor
was stroked, both had high compression, porting, and different cams. The
727 was very well behaved supposedly, suitable for street and trail
riding I guess.
The 727 was getting something like 55-60hp at the rear wheel, the 770
closer to 70hp. These are numbers about on par with a built DOHC Rotax
or 660 Yamaha motor that have been set up for single-cylinder racing.
Tobin, if you're listening, a follow-up on those built motors would be a
pretty useful article.

Do you remember what kind of mpg he got. For some of us it's range, range and more range. May not be important back East but out here, not to mention Mexico, for my kind of ridding it's key. Or, as Dr, Krok would say, clave. Bogdan> The 727 was getting something like 55-60hp at the rear wheel, the 770 > closer to 70hp.
