I thought it was about time we sent you some info and pictures of our
TC. We purchased it in December 2003 from a deceased estate. The previous
owner had purchased it in 1974 but had apparently not used it for the last 20 odd
years. It had been sold new in Australia before being imported to New Zealand
in 1964. It appears to have been used for racing there as it was fitted with
finned brake drums and telescopic dampers and the battery had been relocated
behind the left side seat. There is also plenty of evidence of lock-wiring of
various nuts and bolts. Since purchasing the TC we have repainted it and fitted
an all new interior, hood and side-screens. I have also overhauled the wheels
and front suspension and replace virtually all the rubber components as well
as much of the brightwork. As far as we can tell the TC was probably RED
originally but had been fully stripped and repainted BRG when it was first imported
to NZ. We liked the BRG so elected to repaint it in the same colour but chose
to replace the very tired and unoriginal red interior with Green (purchased
from Moss Europe). We re did the original dash with walnut veneer because we didn
t want a green vinyl dash. We are now enjoying TC style motoring!

Dear Jim, Walter and T-ABC Friends,

It is with great regret that I now have to bid farewell to this group of
nicest people who drive little open two-seaters (No, not Honda. They are
the two-wheel people).

Long illness and resulting problems forced me to part with TC-6903 who had
stayed with me for fifteen long years, sharing with me joys of driving (No,
she's never got along well with my wife but, she never phoned me at home nor
asked me for a fur coat and the like) such as revving through hilly country
roads coloured fresh green in spring and crimson in autumn or, pulling up
to a petrol station and suddenly noticing an attendant, a nozzle in one
hand, plying open the radiator cap.

I have Parkinson's Disease (No. Not Thompkins, Dear) and it has become a bit
of nuissance to get good hold of that devilish TC steering, with or without
a Thompkins. You need some muscle power which I no longer have and I
sometimes don't know whether the road is rough or my hands are shaking.

I have purchased a urethane B for better manageability, installed an
oversized electric fan myself and now am working to place a spare tyre in
the rear centre a la MG classique. I have assembled a 1/24 model and it
looks handsome. I more or less mean to maintain this B type as a
remembrance of the series of good old MG cars. The car was re-registered on
April 12th this year with a registration number of 4.12, Cecil Kimber's
birthday.

I have throughly enjoyed the conversations with many of the club members
during the past few years and above all I enjoyed reading the mails
wondering which way a discussion would turn or, when Thom or MrBadger would
enter to commence a hillarious battle of words.. I enjoyed and learned quite
a lot on MG-TABC. Plenty of mechanical information plus enthusiast's
attitudes, trivia and maybe a scratch of not-so-easy-to-follow humour as
well.

Jim, Walter, Don, Chip, thank you so much for all your help. Oh there are
too many nice people to mention. Thank you very much every one of you for
making me enjoy being a member of this wonderful club.

Wishing you all the best for a Happy Holiday Season and Happy MotorinG!.
I hope I have some time left to make efforts to enjoy MotorinG, too.
Thank you again and, Good Bye.

Rick,

Thank you for your kind words. Makes me think, "You may be able to take an
enthusiast away from TC but you can't take take the TC out of the
enthusiast." I just looked at your pictures in the TABC's Forever Gallery
and you certainly look grand sitting in your TC. That is the way I will
picture you even if for some reason I ever see you in your B now.

Nice touch to put a rear mounted spare on the B (ala T series) but maybe
putting a fake bonnet hinge strip and a hex radiator cap on the B might be
worth investigating since that is what you see when peering out the
windscreen.

Best wishes and prayers to you fellow TC enthusiast,

David Edgar, TC 5108

(note from Jim - maybe Tom wants to move "up" ;- )

===and - concerning the content of several recent T-ABC messages:

I recently received this request from one of our members:

"---would it be possible for you to remind the membership that
sticking
more to the reason for the group's existence is preferred? I realize
that
self-policing of the site is open to abuses and that your admonition
may go
unheeded, but if these comments continue I believe many members will
leave
the group."

=== I agree - and also

It would also be helpful in searching the archives if members would
put the appropriate subject heading on emails sent to the group.

If you receive a message regarding "King Dicks Headlamp Emblem"
don't hit "reply" and then talk about some other subject.

Giving your email an appropriate topic will help locate it in an
archive search.
