speedo bezel

Post by TMcNam4510@aol.com » Wed Sep 28, 2005 4:15 pm

The adventure continues............While I am waiting for "sticks" to
continue the tub rebuild, I thought I would start on the dashboard. I have cleaned
the speedo and tach but discovered that both chrome bezels are in poor
condition. They don't appear in the Moss or A/S catalogs. Does anyone know if
they are available? Does one simply send them to a chrome shop and have them
re-done? Thanks, Tom, TC 2850, disassembled.

Tom;
Consider checking with MOMA 1321 2nd street N.W. Albbuquerque NM. 87102 (505) 766-1661. I have used them and Moss suggest them. I am very satisfied with Maureen's work. Last name LUCAS. you can't go wrong

Sandy, sorry to disagree with you but I would not deal with MOMA under any

this experience with MOMA was the only nasty and unpleasant M.G. dealing I

Tom, May I suggest you try Nisonger, APT or John Marks in England, before
you get snarled up in New Mexico.

Skip Kelsey uses Margaret and likes the result. I had one dealing with a Mayflower oil pressure gauge....got it back and it didn't work. Returned it and got it back and it didn't work.
She was not unpleasant.....John Marks does all my instruments, has talented experienced technicians and ton of stock....and he stands behind his work. However in the case of the bezels, just take them off and have them rechromed if that is all that is the matter....

John Marks does MG instruments correctly.
APT does a good job as well. I had them convert a Sunbeam Tiger tacho so I
could use a Unilite ignition some time ago, and was completely satisfied.
No experience for years with Nisonger.
Moma didn't turn out so well for me. I sent them back and forth several
times until they were right.
No doubt others may have had some different experiences.

Best,
Ray

Check with Craig Seabrook at the Whitworth Shop. I have seen his shop and
was quite impressed.

AW: [mg-tabc] speedo bezel

Post by Paroor » Wed Sep 28, 2005 10:54 pm

Hi Tom,
I recently got few TC repro instrument dials. These were made by some
one in Switzerland years back. Few "kM" speedometer dials are still
available for 25 . "VDO" those who made most of the old speedos for Germen
vehicles have some repro rings. But I am not sure about the diameter TC
instruments. Any way I will ring up some places to get some information. I
got a new ring for my motorcycle speedo last year.

Where does this word bezel come from. The split rear windows of old VW
Beetle is called a Brezel. Brezel is also avalable here for " Oktober
festvel ". Look similar to the split rear windows of Beetle. We eat it
instead of chips while drinking beer.

Best regards
Madhu

Bill; Things like names in my memory are becoming senior moments. Memory loss is the second thing to go and I am already working on the third one. I just can't remember what it is going to be.

Bill & Group,
I agree with Bill Hentzen. I have received instruments done by MOMA
through total dashboard jobs that we have done. The workmanship was
terrible both cosmetically & mechanically. I had to detail them up just
to make them presentable. Another case where the "T Series" owner got
nicked.
