Here in sunny S Africa I use "Silvo" (once in a careful, distant while) in the same way as I use "Brasso" (ditto) to polish the brass bits! Then I clean off the residual elements with methylated sprits - the purple stuff I imbibe after filtering through a loaf of white bread when the red wine consumption has exceeded the family budget (only joking JR, as I know our merlots are better value for money than those from the Hunter region!) Hi Gang, While we are on the reflector discussion, I would like to put me
original reflector and cats eye lens's back on the car. The reflectors need
to be resilvered and who in the Midwest can do this? Also I would like to
convert the reflectors to accept the new Starbright bulbs instead of having
to use the halogen bulbs which draw so much current. Any ideas?

Re: Head Lamp reflector Silver polish of choice?
Sorry, the last email got messed up.
Hello all,
On the topic of polishes, German made Wenol is indeed a great product,
especially for copper and brass, much superior I feel to Brasso. It is a bit
pricey in the US and more reasonable in Germany. But for silver, I feel the best
polish is Tarni-Shield made by 3M in the US. I can't even remember when I used
it last. Use it once and it lasts forever!

John,
I believe Custom Chrome Plating http://www.customchromeplating.com/ in Grafton, Ohio will do the nickel plating and polishing that must be done before the silver plating, but you'll still need to find a place to do the silver. I'm sure others on the list can tell you who can do the silver or perhaps all of it at one place. What is a Starbright bulb and what needs to be done to convert the reflectore to accept these bulbs?

Custom Chrome Plating doesn't do the silver plate, but they can sub it out
to another shop. Ballpark price is $100 the pair, if no repairs are needed.
