Nothing to offer regarding the ignition light but my first go-to for lack of power under load is the condenser. Try bypassing it with a known good one to see whether that makes any difference. I ve had a couple fail on different cars, including the TC last year. Bob – Tried to reply before, but it appears that my reply didn’t make it. All that could be caused by poor electrical connections causing high resistance and low current flow/low voltage. Subject: What does today's petrol do to JB Weld ?
Anyone have any knowledge of what today's petrol does to JB Weld when in continual contact eg in a float chamber for example? It used to survive fuel reasonably well, but that was before our fuel was full of snake oils. As were are about it, anyone know what today fuels do to normal and Rapid standard Araldite mixes ?

I have used JB Weld with modern U.S. fuels and have had no problems with it deteriorating over time. Recently I doped up the threads on my petrol tank fuel line fitting that was seeping and it stopped the leak. I also wiped it over some solder on the bottom of same petrol tank bottom several years ago that was leaking at the spot welds and it has stayed dry.

Hylomar, , made in Europe, not the USA, Permatex, seems to work pretty well , especially on the gas sending unit seals....
The USA version would be Permashield, fuel resistant, Item # 85420.

My experience related to repairing a rusty hole in a PA tank 3 years ago. It was adjacent to the body so wouldn t be seen. I stuck a plate over it with JB Weld but it leaked almost immediately. So I tried again with the same result. I put this down to the high proportion of ethanol in what passes for petrol here in England.

My experience related to repairing a rusty hole in a PA tank 3 years ago. It was adjacent to the body so wouldn t be seen. I stuck a plate over it with JB Weld but it leaked almost immediately. So I tried again with the same result. I put this down to the high proportion of ethanol in what passes for petrol here in England.

I'm not suggesting you make a patch out of the stuff, but it works fine as gasket sealant, when gasket sealant doesn't work. For instance my fuel level float always leaked around either the screws or the float itself and JB Weld cured it and it has been leak free for years. We have 10% ethanol in our petrol here.
