MG Book List
One book that no one has mentioned yet but is invaluable for both T types
and MMM's is 'Tuning and Maintenance of M.G.s' by Phillip H Smith, an
excellent book..
Best wishes, Brian Rainbow TA2551 and PA0777

Brian,
Sadly out of print and more and more like hen's teeth; but definitely
worth having.

If you are looking for out of print books, try www.bibliofind.com and search
for the book by name and author. There is a copy of "Tuning and Maintenance
of M.G.s" available.

For used British Books Ron Embling of the NEMGTR had a company called Brit-Books, I believe he has just sold the business but I am sure he will direct anyone to the new owner.

Re: MG Book List
There is a copy of that currently available from :
Book Broker
3287 Adams Ave.
San Diego, CA 92116
(619) 280-2665
They're asking $25. which is, in my estimation, a great buy.
One of the best sources for rare books of this type is the Advanced Book
Exchange, which searches the inventories of virutally 90% of used bookstores
in the US, Canada and Europe. It is a bookseller's site, and their prices
are low because the site is for booksellers who wholesale to one another,
but they don't require you to be a book dealer if you want to order a book.
I spent twenty years trying to find a copy of Ken Purdy's "Kings of the
Road" , which was written in the fifties, and of which there were relatively
few copies sold. (I'd lost my copy back in the sixties) with no success,
even at e-bay. Then a bookseller friend told me about this site. There were
23 copies available at the site! I got a copy from a Canadian bookseller
for $12.

I am the Librarian for the Vintage MG Club of Southern California, and all this
is good stuff to me.... I would like E-Mail address of Advanced Book Exchange
if available or their location. Also, I am always looking for additional books
I don't know about. We have over 250 books in our Library related to MGs..
Got any old books that I may not have?????

Re: MG Book List
Sorry about that...I had already copied it to paste into my letter, and
forgot-(that happens a lot when you're retired) here it is:
http://abebooks.com/
-By the way that copy of Smith's book was the only one their site turned up.
As to other old books, I'll do some digging. I had a Blower manual (which
I'm sure everyone already has) that Alan Moss sent me back in the fifties,
complimentary, no less (long story) but last year I gave it to Chip Hellie.
I did have the complete set of Sacred Octagon's magazines, but after copying
all the tech notes, sent them with our old '52TD to the lady in Olean NY who
had talked us into selling her that car.
BUT---for what it's worth: I got a letter from Hank Rippert at the New
England T Register, confirming that they still intend to come out with the
CD-ROM containing the complete archive of MG Technical notes. He's promised
to send me an "alert" as soon as they're out with it. That might prove to
be a very valuable library asset. If you've seen their tech articles, you
know they're a treasure. Must have been a horriffic job to collate all
those.
Best regards,
SS

Re: MG Book List
I've been a member of the NEMGTR since 1969. I should have all of the
TSO's back to then unless I've lost one. They've published indexes now
and then, but when one guy got tired of doing it they never had someone
else pick up on it. So the information in them is a little hard to find
right now

hi Bob - what sort of time warp do you inhabit! your MSG timed at Aug 27,
1956 BEFORE the internet was even thought about...
maybe some books are easier to find over here in England - let me know if
there is anything you want.
cheers

Re: MG Book List
hi Blake - I have indexed all of TSO so can easily find any Tech article
from the last 40 years. It was Hal Kramer who did most of the work, I have
simply brought it up to date. It is on a DOS database in dBase format, which
can be read by Access or any other modern database. If anybody is interested
I could send it out on floppies (until I figure out how to get it into email
form as an attachment), but will ask Dick Knudsen first.
